On the 2nd February the Soviet Memorial Trust Fund (SMTF), in co-operation with Federal Agency Rossotrudnichestvo in the UK, the Russian Embassy and the Society for Co-operation in Russian and Soviet Studies (SCRSS), held a special event “Stalingrad, Zhukov and the Great Patriotic War†devoted to the 70th anniversary of the famous victory by the Soviet Army at the Battle of Stalingrad.
While entering the office of Rossotrudnichestvo guests had a chance to see the exhibition of sculptures “Defeat at Stalingrad†by British artist Robert Truscott.
The main part of the event included a lecture “Stalingrad, Zhukov and the Great Patriotic War†by Professor Geoffrey Roberts, a fellow of the Royal Historical Society and History and International Relations at University College Cork, Ireland.
